Engage With Change
Skilled, trauma-informed psychotherapy — primarily for men navigating complex lives. In-person in Marrickville, or via video — wherever you are.
A place to begin
We all develop patterns — ways of seeing, feeling and responding — that once served us well. Over time, some of those patterns can become a burden: invisible, habitual, and hard to shift alone.
Psychotherapy offers something different. A space to slow down, to be heard without judgement, and to separate yourself from the story that's been holding you back.
Men are at the heart of this practice — men of all ages, cultures, sexualities, and experiences of gender.
The therapeutic approach
Narrative Therapy sits at the heart of the work — helping you separate yourself from the problem story and re-author your life on your own terms. This is woven together with self-compassion practices, positive psychology, values-based work, and motivational interviewing to help you move toward the life you actually want.
Inner child work, IFS, CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches are drawn on as needed — shaped by you, not a formula.
Sessions integrate the leading trauma neuroscience — Porges' Polyvagal Theory, van der Kolk's somatic understanding of trauma, Siegel's Interpersonal Neurobiology, Ogden's Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Fisher's work on trauma and dissociation.
The physiological, neurobiological, nervous system, and psychological dimensions of experience are all part of the therapeutic conversation.
Therapy follows the internationally recognised three-stage trauma model: Safety & Stabilisation first, then careful Trauma Processing, and finally Integration & Reconnection — grounded in Blue Knot Foundation standards.
Drawing on the physiological, neurobiological, nervous system, and psychological dimensions of trauma — the work of Porges, van der Kolk, Siegel, Ogden and Fisher informs every stage.
Areas of focus
The majority of my work is with men. A space where men can speak honestly — about relationships, identity, anger, grief, masculinity, and purpose — without performance.
Understanding what's driving the anxiety or low mood — and building real capacity for lasting change.
Careful, evidence-based work with developmental, relational and complex trauma — using Narrative Therapy, the three-stage model, and leading trauma neuroscience.
Affirming, informed support for LGBTQI+ people navigating identity, relationships, and minority stress.
Experienced working across cultures, with clients from migrant and diaspora communities navigating the intersections of culture, identity, race, and mental health.
Non-shaming, harm-reduction support for people whose relationship with substances or compulsive behaviours has become a source of difficulty. Often explored as part of broader trauma or wellbeing work.
Supportive, strengths-based work for people navigating an ADHD or autism diagnosis — often addressed alongside the anxiety, self-esteem, or relational patterns it intersects with.
The therapist
I've been working with people in therapeutic and leadership contexts for over three decades. Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent twenty years in senior management — which gave me a grounded, practical understanding of what it means to be human under pressure.
My practice works primarily with men — men of all ages, cultures, sexualities, and experiences of gender — drawing on Narrative Therapy, self-compassion, values-based work, motivational interviewing, inner child and IFS approaches, and somatic and neuroscience-informed practice.
I have extensive experience working with clients navigating migration, diaspora identity, and the experience of being between cultures — and the ways those realities intersect with mental health and sense of self. I also work with ACON Health, which has deepened my understanding of the pressures facing LGBTQI+ communities.
A free 15-minute consultation gives you the chance to ask questions, get a feel for the process, and decide if we're a good fit — with no obligation.
