Clinical Supervision · Marrickville & Online
Individual clinical supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists. Postmodern, trauma-informed, and grounded in a genuine supervisory relationship.
What supervision is actually for
Supervision is where case conceptualisation sharpens, ethical reasoning develops, and professional identity takes shape.
Supervision attends to the full scope of clinical work: the presenting case, the therapeutic relationship, countertransference, scope of practice, and the practitioner’s own wellbeing under the weight of the work.
The supervisory relationship is understood here as relational and collaborative — grounded in a postmodern, social justice, and trauma-informed philosophical stance. Context, culture, power, and the stories shaping clinical work are all part of the conversation.
The supervisory framework
Philosophical stance
Postmodern, social justice, and trauma-informed — attending to context, culture, power, and the stories shaping clinical practice. Supervision draws primarily on Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, within a broadly Humanistic relational ethos. ACT, CBT, and IFS are integrated where relevant.
Structural framework
Holloway’s Systems Approach to Supervision (SAS) provides the structural framework for the supervisory relationship — addressing the tasks and functions of supervision systematically across the relationship, the client, the trainee, the supervisor, and the institution.
Developmental calibration
The Integrated Developmental Model (IDM) is used to calibrate the level of support and challenge to where you are in your practice. The approach is shaped to the practitioner — their current skill level, clinical context, and developmental stage — rather than applied as a fixed method.
What sessions cover
Sessions are protected time — private, punctual, and uninterrupted. Content is shaped by what you bring, and may include any of the following.
Practicalities
Format & location
Individual supervision, in person at Marrickville or via telehealth. Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Frequency and duration are negotiated at the outset and reviewed as the relationship develops.
Fee
$190 + GST per hour, payable at time of service.
A reduced rate of $110 + GST per hour applies for counselling and psychotherapy graduates within their first six months of practice — for a maximum of 10 sessions or 12 months, whichever comes first.
Getting started
A 15-minute consultation is available to talk through what you are looking for and whether we are a good fit. Supervision goals are negotiated at the outset and reviewed formally every six months. A supervision agreement is completed before the first session.
The supervisor
I have been working with people in therapeutic and leadership contexts for over three decades. My clinical practice works primarily with men navigating complex lives — drawing on Narrative Therapy, trauma-informed practice, and a relational, postmodern framework.
My supervisory approach reflects the same philosophical commitments as my clinical work: attending to context, culture, and power; supporting the development of clinical voice; and holding the supervisee’s wellbeing as central to good practice.
Supervision is structured around Holloway’s SAS framework and calibrated using the IDM, with a genuine interest in where you are in your practice — not where a training programme expects you to be.
A 15-minute consultation is available to talk through what you are looking for and whether we are a good fit. No obligation.
